Are you an Introvert or an Extrovert?

Or should you even choose?

Are you an introvert or an extrovert, to me is like asking — Do you eat Biryani or Ice cream? One spicy, other a dessert.

Answer: Both!

While the former satiates my stomach, the later goes straight into my heart — there’s always room for it!

But..but..how can you be both introverted and extroverted?

Of course you can be both. There’s even a word for it — ambivert. I like spending time secluded, all by myself, while I also love initiating conversations with total strangers. I like partying with my friends, while also like to read books all alone, not wanting to be disturbed. Each has its own space.

It’s like listening to music. You sometimes enjoy grooving to EDM, upbeat music and sometimes fall in the trance of melodious music. One makes you feel elevated, other gives you tranquility. Each has its own merit and serves its own purpose.

Same goes for introversion and extroversion.

Spending time alone, lets you explore yourself. Makes you self-aware. Helps you introspect and take better decisions. On the other hand, socializing with others helps you find new perspectives, sometimes even new dimensions, which you could have never discovered by yourself.

My point being, introversion and extroversion although opposite of one another, complement each other gracefully. Having a predilection for one does not deny you from savouring the other. It’s not black or white. It’s grey — like most things in life are. Chances are, you have both the qualities too. You just need to embrace them!
